Message From Our President
We are a Community of Strength and we will get through 2020 together. I want you to know that the board is committed to our members and our charities. We are looking forward to getting back to normal as soon as possible. However, we will make sure that we keep everyone safe.
Our Outreach Committee has been hard at work picking our new charities and we are starting to figure out creative ways to raise money for those charities. We have an amazing group of women that truly care about each other and our unbelievable community. We are looking forward to making a difference. That could mean raising money for our charities, which are in dire need or being here to help our own MCWA community.
We all need each other more than ever. Covid-19 has altered the way we have to do things, but that does not mean we can’t be an effective community of strength. There are many ways you can make a difference. It could be waving to a neighbor or calling someone that may be lonely. Getting involved is another way to make a difference. We have so many creative and intelligent women that are a part of our association.
We are always looking for input and ideas. We together are a Community of Strength.
Wishing all of you health and happiness,
Christine Matthaei
President MCWA 2020-2021

Please review the items that are available to be borrowed for home care and grandchildren that are listed on our website. If you have something listed that is no longer available or if you would like to offer an item that members in our community can borrow, please let us know.
We’d like to keep our “From Crutches to Cribs” list current so please let us know if any changes need to be made by emailing either Pattie or Barbara.

Membership
We realize this has been a difficult time and we cannot guarantee our usual plans for the upcoming season, but we want you to know that our Women’s Association is still involved in our core mission objectives of greeting new members to Marsh Creek Country Club, providing a platform for social, educational and cultural exchange and supporting those who are less fortunate in our community. We will be doing our best to meet these important objectives and hope you will continue to support our selected charities.
Thank you,
Kathy Sharpless & Marie Elena Calabrese
Community Outreach
The Outreach Committee has exciting news to share with you! Twenty-five members of our committee voted on the eleven charity applications submitted to us for funding for the upcoming year. The top three selected charities are:
Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition
Betty Griffin Center Rape Care Unit
In the spirit of the Giving Circle, we have added donation buttons to each charity’s page on our website.
Our focus this month will be on The Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition. They have 32 children on their campus who are going back to school. MCWA would like to buy the children back to school sneakers and socks. We have some funds available from last year’s fundraising, but not enough for this project. We need your help. Our goal is to raise $1,500 so we can buy enough shoes and socks for all of the children.
The Homeless Coalition is also in need of window air conditioners and counter-top microwave ovens for their 22 single family homes. Just imagine not being able to live in an air-conditioned environment during these summer and fall months!!
Camille Kay and Paula Hutson have agreed to co-chair the Angel Tree Committee this year. More news about that as we get closer to the holidays.
