Mission Statement: Primarily, to provide weekend food items in backpacks  for selected students at South Woods Elementary School in Elkton, FL and their  siblings under the age of 18. Since it began in 2010 as an outreach of Memorial  Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine, the program has expanded considerably. 

Services offered: Partnering with the school and community volunteers,  150 children received weekend meals for 36 weeks. Partnering with Dollar  General, Hastings, Food4 kids provided $1,000+ of fresh milk to SWES families.  During FSA testing week, F4K provided 1800 individual snacks to SWES  students. (In mid June, 29 volunteers, working 159 hours, secured 690 cases of  food to the SWES location, and packed 150 boxes and 150 bags of food, providing  300 children with weekend meals for 11 weeks during summer break.) Sept.2020  through May 2021, F4K provided over $3,400 of snacks to youth under 21 at Port  In the Storm homeless youth center. 

Volunteer needs: Volunteers are needed to pick up, transport, drop off,  and pack food in boxes and bags.

Monday, June 1st, volunteers packed 678 cases of food for the Food 4 Kids summer food distribution. We filled 2 flatbeds (to the tune of $11,000). As we weren’t able to use the school for packing, Mary Clare generously offered the Marsh Creek club parking lot.

Pie In The Sky

Pie in the Sky Community Alliance, Inc. 

Mission Statement: To provide hope by serving with dignity and respect to  alleviate hunger and social isolation through the home delivery of fresh healthy  produce to as many low-income, hungry senior citizens as is physically and  financially possible. Our program feeds the hunger in their bellies, gives a  sense of connectedness to ease their fears, and a stead, reliable source of  compassion to feed the hunger in their hearts. 

Services offered: The Senior Produce Program delivers nearly 10,000 pounds  of produce twice a month to homes of seniors in need. The number of  families in need is increasing. 

Education services: Company or club volunteers where a group can spend  the day and see first-hand how they operate and meet some of their seniors. 

Volunteer needs: The program is volunteer centric. In 2020, volunteers gave  3,091 hours to drive and deliver premium produce to all corners of St. John’s  County. They are always in need of baggers and delivery drivers.

Alpha-Omega Miracle Home

Alpha Omega Miracle Home, Inc.

Mission Statement: To demonstrate God’s love by providing housing,  education, and counseling to those who are the most vulnerable: young mothers,  their children, and senior women.    

Services offered: Since 1999, Alpha-Omega Miracle Home has been  providing safe and affordable housing, support, and hope to low-income,  homeless (or at risk of homelessness) single/expectant mothers, their children,  and senior women in St Johns County. Additionally, there is a Community  Diaper Bank and the AOMH Thrift Store which funds its four phase Residential  (G.R.O.W) program. It also offers vouchers to the community to shop in the  thrift store. 

Education services: AOMH provides a place for job readiness skills training  for unemployed residents and Life Skills classes. 

Volunteer needs: Handyman or woman for minor repairs on campus, Life  Skills instructors, transportation for residents, childcare for resident’s children  during the Life Skills classes, mentors for residents, administrative supportive  services.

Port in the Storm

Mission Statement: To engage vulnerable homeless families and single adults  in opportunity driven programs, in an effort to eliminate their state of  homelessness and to place homeless youth in nurturing programs that develop  their self esteem, so they become self-sufficient, find stable housing, and change  the trajectory of their lives.    

Services offered: Services include shelter for 16 men, 14 women and 4 families  (with shelter for 9 more families underway); basic needs services; Street  Outreach Services; assigned case manager for all residential clients to create a  plan to help them escape homelessness; implementing a successful housing focused model resulting in 188 adults and 21 youths recently transitioning to  stable housing; Advocacy and Referral Day Program for non-residential clients;  Port in the Storm youth advocacy and education at the Arapaho facility,  renovated with 16 shelter beds; Port in the Storm programs for success, including  Homeward Bound and Ready for Work 

Education services: Education to reverse homelessness is ongoing on every  level, impacting adults, families, and youth. (See Services offered) 

Volunteer needs: At Port in the Storm--Providing dinner, assisting with food  drives and in the clothing closet, and with the raised vegetable garden soon to be  constructed in the back of the building on Arapaho. At St. Francis House--several  volunteer opportunities
