Port in the Storm

Mission Statement: To engage vulnerable homeless families and single adults  in opportunity driven programs, in an effort to eliminate their state of  homelessness and to place homeless youth in nurturing programs that develop  their self esteem, so they become self-sufficient, find stable housing, and change  the trajectory of their lives.    

Services offered: Services include shelter for 16 men, 14 women and 4 families  (with shelter for 9 more families underway); basic needs services; Street  Outreach Services; assigned case manager for all residential clients to create a  plan to help them escape homelessness; implementing a successful housing focused model resulting in 188 adults and 21 youths recently transitioning to  stable housing; Advocacy and Referral Day Program for non-residential clients;  Port in the Storm youth advocacy and education at the Arapaho facility,  renovated with 16 shelter beds; Port in the Storm programs for success, including  Homeward Bound and Ready for Work 

Education services: Education to reverse homelessness is ongoing on every  level, impacting adults, families, and youth. (See Services offered) 

Volunteer needs: At Port in the Storm--Providing dinner, assisting with food  drives and in the clothing closet, and with the raised vegetable garden soon to be  constructed in the back of the building on Arapaho. At St. Francis House--several  volunteer opportunities
